Many stars shoot from the sky, as we often see them do. NOW shoots a star by the name of "SIRIUS". In the male dominated world of hip-hop"SIRIUS" is positioning herself to grab the mic and represent for the ladies. Inspired by hip-hop greats like Tupac, Nas, DaBrat,MC Lyte,Erykah Badhu, and many others, the lyrical style of SIRIUS is an intangible mix of the streets and the voice of an independent woman. Born Renee Sheppard, February 17, 1985, this St. Louis, MO native grew up with music. Since the age of 5, her mother, a DJ at the time, always had music ranging from Earth, Wind and Fire, Sugar Hill Gang, to Mariah Carey playing around the house. Crediting her mother as being her primary musical influence, SIRIUS learned it's not just the beat of a song, but the words that are spoken over the beat which can touch a person's soul. In 1999, her uncle, Norman Sheppard, founded a record label STRICTLY GROUND LEVEL. BY now, SIRIUS was sharpening her skills behind the mic and decided to put a pen to paper by writing her own lyrics as well. Due to circumstances beyond her control, the label could not be upheld. Although the label no longer exists, she still reps GROUND LEVEL as you will hear her proclaim in some of her music. SIRIUS' goal is to get the label re-instated, in honor of her uncle; My uncle worked very closely with Ms. Hazel beginning ten (10 Years Ago.)  We are all like family. With an ever-growing fan base in the Lou, (and seriously growing everywhere), SIRIUS continues to make her voice heard through show performances, including serving as the opening act for many local comedians. In 2003 she was awarded best new female artist of the year by INFAMOUS ENT. "STREET HEAT". She has been invited to attend the HBCU tour, which is pending. Nominated female BOUT TO BLOW artist of the year 2009 by KNOCDOWN ENT. Now broadening her horizons, she has hooked up with a couple of producers from Germany (Red-Force) and collaborated with an artist (Ammoeinser) to work on several projects. As the brightest star in the sky, SIRIUS will continue to give fans what has been missing from hip-hop. A strong female voice that understands and respects the power of words.
